In Europe, healthcare systems are confronted with a number of challenges, including the need to adapt to changing population health needs, the burden of chronic illness, and public expectation of more effective and efficient care. Thus, policymakers and healthcare organisations are under increasing pressure to improve care quality.
In the United States, low back pain is by far the most prevalent spinal complaint among adults. It occurs anywhere on the back between the ribs and above the legs. Overuse, strain, injury, compression fracture, age, and disorders like as arthritis and osteoporosis are all possible causes. Such patients are in greater need of traction/hospital beds. Thus, USA and Europe are expected to be significant markets for acute care hospital beds.
Hospitals in India are in high demand from both foreign and domestic investors. The Government's intentions to expand public health spending to 2.5 percent of GDP by 2025 is also expected to assist the hospital industry. There is an enormous demand for tertiary care hospitals, particularly speciality hospitals. At the moment, a significant gap exists between the number of available beds and the number of beds necessary.
India's hospital bed density is less than half that of the global average of three hospital beds per 1,000 inhabitants, meaning a need for an estimated 2.2 million additional beds over the next 15 years. Apart from metropolitan areas, health service demand is increasing in Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions throughout the country. The per-capita income in these areas has risen considerably in recent years. Additionally, these cities offer lower-cost inputs such as land and labour, and can serve the people of adjacent villages and towns. Thus, growing need, increased income and government initiatives are expected to drive the market in India.
Traction therapy involves the application of a longitudinal force to the axis of the spinal column. In other words, the spinal column is stretched (pulled in opposite directions) To steady or modify the position of injured parts of the spine. Spinal traction therapy could be either manual or mechanical. While in manual traction, a physical therapist would use their hands to deliver the therapy (put people in a state of traction), mechanical traction employs devices that stretch the spinal column and muscles. Both types of therapy usually require a traction table or bed. Traction beds have been found to be very effective for disc mobility and lower back pain alleviation. A 3D model analysis employing CT or MRI images can be used to determine the best angle for traction. The ideal angle will vary between patients and should be calculated on the basis of the intervertebral disc's decreased height, as well as the patient's weight and height.
Thus, the global traction beds market is likely to be driven by growing demand on account of rising number of hospitalizations, increased orthopaedic and spine problems, enhanced quality of beds, improved technology, rising number of hospitals and healthcare, wellness and physiotherapy establishments, and increased disposable income.
