Thus, demand for crackers and savoury biscuits has also increased.

Today, savoury biscuits come in a broad variety. For example, Matzo Crackers do not carry extra fat or sugar and are prepared from just flour and water; the high baking temperature gives the light and airy texture.

Crispbreads carry very low or no fat and or sugar, and are prepared by baking an aerated foam of rye and water.

Water Biscuits have low quantities of fat with little to no sugar. These are commonly consumed with toppings. Water biscuit flavours include black pepper, paprika and sesame.

Saltine or Soda Crackers are popular in USA, Latin America and some parts of Asia. These carry low sugar and fat levels, and are consumed by many as a substitute to bread. However, saltines carry salt and may not suit those concerned about the heart.

Cream Crackers carry almost 10% fat with low levels of sugar, and are best enjoyed with toppings. Wholemeal, rye, sugar-coated, and dried meat floss variants are popular.

Other popular varieties of savoury biscuits include Easy Homemade Crackers (made with flour, salt, olive oil, water, and flavour), Sourdough Crackers (sourdough version of easy homemade crackers), Easy Seed Crackers (grain-free, gluten-free, made with just seeds, water and your seasonings), Cheesejacks, Beetrooot Crackers with Nigella Seeds, Digestive Biscuits, Scottish Oatcakes, Parmesan and Cheddar Biscuits, Walnut and Pumpkin Seed Scottish Oatcakes, and Flaky Cheese Crackers, among others.
