The battery charger market in the country is being positively shaped due to increasing demands for portable electronic devices, EVs, renewable energy storage systems along with innovations through cutting-edge technology to reduce charger size, increase resistance to high temperatures, and seamless compatibility with all devices. Growing focus on environmental sustainability and management is also a key driving factor in the growth of North America battery charger industry. For instance, in May 2024, Eaton Corporation, an intelligent power management company collaborated with Edurant Energy for ten battery storage projects in New York City worth USD 7 million.
The expansion of the battery charger market is fuelled in part by government support for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) of 2021 solidifies this trend, allocating 7.5 billion USD to install 500,000 public chargers by 2030 in the USA. These government initiatives and regulatory frameworks create a supportive environment for market players by facilitating the development of charging infrastructure, which, in turn, increases the demand for battery chargers used in both EV charging stations and the vehicles themselves.
The emergence of new players from the electronic manufacturing sector into the electric vehicle sector is a key trend of North America battery charger market. In January 2024, LG Electronics established its first electric vehicle charging station assembly facility in Texas, the United States. This plant will create the Level 2 and Level 3 EV chargers. Beginning in January, Level 2 AC chargers with variable current settings and a load management solution will be the first goods built in this factory.
Increasing EV adoption, rising consumer electronics sale, advancements in wireless charging technologies, and government regulations are impacting the North America battery charger market value.
September 2024
Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company LLC announced its new Cargobull Liftgate Battery Charger as an integrated option with Cargobull 625 and 655MT Hybrid transport refrigeration units. The battery charger kept trailers’ liftgate batteries topped off with optimum charge condition. Besides, it operated at 480 volts to enable low voltage charging with a maximum output of 40 amps or 480 watts of power.
September 2024
Italy-based ZAPI GROUP promoted its full range of on-board (OBC) and off-board charging solutions, from 350 W to 36 kW at the Battery Show held in Detroit, North America between October 7th to 10th. The goal was to expand its market in the region. One of the products on display was the new 9-kilowatt SG9 industrial charger, a highly flexible off-board fast charger configured for a variety of AC input sources at multiple charge voltages.
February 2024
A group of seven major auto manufacturers, BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis, announced a public charging joint venture, IONNA, akin to the European consortium Ionity, with plans to deploy 30,000 fast charging stations throughout North America, starting with the US and Canada. The charging network was accessible to all EVs with CCS or NACS (Tesla) connectors.
November 2023
XCharge North America (NA), a pioneer in developing innovative Level-3 electric vehicle (EV) chargers and energy storage devices inaugurated its headquarters and facility in Kyle, Texas and released the first battery-integrated EV charger in the U.S., namely, the Net Zero Series. The facility significantly enhanced local EV accessibility in a region currently underserved in terms of charging infrastructure.
Increase in Electric Vehicle (EV) Adoption is Propelling the Growth of North America Battery Charger Market
The growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is significantly driving demand for battery chargers in North America. As more consumers and businesses shift to EVs for environmental and economic reasons, there is a rising need for reliable and efficient home and public charging solutions. Fast-charging stations, wireless charging, and smart chargers that offer app-controlled charging and energy management features are becoming more popular. Government incentives and stricter emissions regulations are also accelerating the transition, leading to higher demand for compatible EV chargers and supporting infrastructure.
Rise in Consumer Electronics Sales is Increasing the North America Battery Charger Market Revenue
The surge in the use of portable electronics, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and wearables, is fueling the growth of battery chargers in North America. With the proliferation of smart devices, consumers are increasingly seeking faster, more efficient charging solutions, such as fast chargers and multi-device charging stations. Advancements in charging technologies, including USB-C, wireless charging, and power delivery (PD), are improving the user experience, and driving market growth. Additionally, the growing reliance on gadgets for work, entertainment, and communication requires consumers to invest in high-quality, durable charging devices.
Shift Towards Wireless Charging Technologies is a Growing Trend of North America Battery Charger Market
Wireless and inductive charging technologies are becoming a significant trend in the battery charger market. Consumers are increasingly drawn to the convenience of eliminating cables, especially with the rise of Qi-enabled devices like smartphones, smartwatches, and wireless earphones. These charging solutions are gaining traction in both the consumer electronics and automotive sectors, allowing for more streamlined and flexible charging experiences. The development of wireless charging pads, charging docks, and even wireless car chargers is expected to boost the market, as companies innovate to provide a seamless, cable-free charging experience.
Government Regulations and Focus on Sustainability is Accelerating the North America Battery Charger Market Development
Sustainability and government regulations are playing a critical role in shaping the battery charger market in the country. As environmental concerns grow, there is increasing demand for energy-efficient, eco-friendly chargers that reduce power consumption and carbon emissions.
