India Data Centre Cooling Market Growth

As per the International Energy Agency, data centres consumed 240-340 TWh of electricity globally, which constituted over 1% of the global electricity demand in 2022. The development of innovative chip-level cooling solutions such as the Integrated Flat Thermosyphon Heat Sink is expected to enhance the lifespan of all electronic components deployed in data centres by nearly 3-17 times and reduce the room air cooling load by nearly 8-25kJ/kg. This is due to its super-hydrophobic condenser (integrated with hollow fins), whose inner surface is suited for condensation and the outer surface is meant for air-side convective cooling. It can be easily installed in rack servers for cooling CPUs. This is expected to drive the market development in the forecast period.

 

Computer room air conditioners (CRAC), which resemble the functioning of household air conditioners, are expected to witness widespread adoption in data centre units. By extracting warm air from hot aisles and pumping cold air between perforated floor tiles, they provide an effective room cooling solution while also monitoring air distribution and controlling humidity levels. Hot aisle containment has emerged as an extremely popular way of orienting serving racks within data centres, which is cost-effective, and possesses a high return functionality.

 

In-rack heat extraction methods which utilise powerful chillers for cooling hardware present inside the rack and pumping out the warm air generated by servers are also expected to propel the market expansion in the coming years.
