In 2021, Vaisala launched an advanced automatic weather station AWS810 to enable global communities to keep citizens safe. AWS810 was an extensive measurement, communication, and data monitoring solution that enabled advanced, easily creatable, manageable and maintainable observation networks.

In 2018, Optical Scientific Inc. (OSI) announced the installation of two FAA certified AWOS-AV systems at private helipads in South Lincoln, VT (VT88) and Stratford, NH (NH08). The automated weather observation system (AWOS) equipment would be used to assist IFR approaches at both sites. The OSI AWOS-AV was capable of being configured for airports of all sizes.

In 2022, FAA announced that it had begun installing new automated weather observing systems (AWOS) across Alaska to provide continuous, real-time and precise weather data on remote Alaskan regions.

In 2020, India Meteorological Department (IMD) commenced the installation of integrated automatic weather observing system (AWOS) at 18 airports with over 500 weekly flights.  The integrated automatic weather observing system (AWOS) comprised several components, including meteorological sensor, data acquisition system (DAS), central data processing and integration system (CDPI), communication system, workstations and displays, data and product archival system (DAPS) and auto generation of reports.
