As per the United States shrimp market analysis, the rising sustainability concerns contribute to the growth. The expansion of the shrimp sector in the United States using traditional practices is transitioning towards sustainable methods. Traditional practices are creating concerns about environmental pollution, disease transmission, and cost of production. New production technologies such as biosecure production technologies are developed to rear shrimp under super-intensive conditions with minimal water use. Such technologies enable shrimp farmers in the United States to cultivate shrimp at inland locations away from sensitive coastal areas, and also with lowered environmental footprint.
In April 2023, Homegrown Shrimp USA opened its new shrimp farming facility in the United States. The recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) of the company produces Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei).
February 2025: Gorton's and SeaPak, two American frozen seafood companies, launched new shrimp products aimed at Americans looking for quick, easy, restaurant-quality dinners. Rich Foods subsidiary SeaPak introduced Classic Cajun Style Shrimp, which is seasoned with a blend of salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic, akin to that of New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States.
November 2024: Four of Prime Shrimp's most well-liked flavors—Signature, Lemon & Cracked Pepper, Garlic Herb Butter, and New Orleans-Style BBQ—have been added to a few Whole Foods Market locations in the United States. Prime Shrimp is a protein developer that aims to increase shrimp consumption.
August 2024: Atarraya, a high-tech shrimp farmer, announced its intention to construct a shrimp farm at a new location in the Northeastern United States that would include 200 self-contained "shrimpboxes" that use microbes to treat shrimp waste products. The company has concentrated on creating more environmentally friendly substitutes for coastal shrimp farming.
April 2023: In Indiantown, Florida, Charoen Pokphand Foods Ltd. (CP Foods) celebrated the opening of Homegrown Shrimp USA, a sustainable shrimp farm. This is an important milestone for the Thai agricultural company as it continues to prioritize sustainability while growing its market share in the United States.
